I made this video for my mom last mother's day. I came across it on youtube the other day and I had to resend it over to her.
This video means so much to us cause it is compiled of video footage from our favorite movies (each clip reminds me of my mom) , favorite song and pictures of me and my brothers. My mom and I laughed over the phone about how others who may watch this video might not "get it"....and think my mom is a screamer! Ha! Well, maybe she was from time to time.... but you see... my mom has bi-polar and if you messed with her kids, you were going to hear it!

Mom, I know having bi-polar disorder has been a struggle, but I wouldn't want you any different than the way you are. To me you are perfect! I love everything about you and am so blessed to call you Mom!

God gave mother's the most amazing gift...... the ability to experience unconditional love.

Would a mother not sacrifce her own life to save the life of her child? Does a mother not forgive her little one when they say "I'm sorry" (she even forgives when they don't apologize)? Do you think a Mother stops loving her children just because they make a bad choice? The answer is "No" to these questions.

Hmmm... does this not sound a lot like the way Jesus love us?

Been under lots of stress and pressure lately..... because of work, preparing for my daughter's band trip, prom and my son's birthday. Some times life can get over whelming.

This card came in the mail today. It's funny how a smile can relieve stress!

I actually have blogged this before...... but as I remember back to a year ago...... I am reminded of this moment.... "Happiness".

2009 was a very very tough year.... but in April, 2010 everything began to change and it all hit me at once. As I began to break down and cry, tears of joy streamed down my face. My brother was returning home safely from Afghanistan, my dad's life threating cancer was now going to be cured ( by a surgery) my mom was making a miraculous recovery from her near death experience due to the swine flu.....and even though my grandpa passed away...... I smiled thinking about how he surprised me with the rest of the money I needed to upgrade to the camera I always wanted.....and in his final days..... I promised him I would work very hard and make him proud! I also thought about how rough it had been to start my business. I mean, I had no money, no college education.... but yet it was beginning to transform into what I had always dreamed it would be.

When life gets hectic I watch this video...... and I remember the "Happiness" moment.

Thank you, God for "Happiness" moments!!!!!!

As I looked up at the "so called" super moon we had the other night. It reminded me of the times when I used to gaze at that same moon and wonder where exactly my brother was at that moment. Was he in the mountains of Afghanistan...... in a tank.... on a mission...... gaurding the base.... in combat? As I would admire the beautiful twinkling stars, I would picture him looking up at them too. My heart would fill with worry. Was he scared.... lonely...... did he have any regrets...did he agree with his mission..... what all did he see? I know I will always wonder.... but I know I'll never ask.

Um, I really need to appreciate my husband more.... because this video bears a strong resemblance to our relationship. I do all the wrong things all the time.... I sing all the time and I am the worst singer ever but he never says a word. I aggravate the tar out of him on a daily basis..... I am a huge slob..... I have completely invaded every space ( in our home) that was ever his. I have ADD on top of it all........and yet he still puts up with me....... like a good five and a half years later. Poor guy! Next time you see him, give him like a high five or maybe a pat on the back. He deserves it! Ha!

P.S. Obviously my years in honors english did not pay off in my writing skills. ; P

Almost two years ago to the date, my sister-n-law and I waved goodbye to my brother as his deployment bus passed us by. I can't tell you how many tears were shed that day....not just by me and my sis-n-law ...... but by all the families that were standing alongside of us.

I think I listened to the song "Angel" by Sarah Mclachlan a hundred times that day!

Please love on a soldier today and tell them "Thank you" when you see them. It's the least we can do to honor them as they sacrafice so much for our freedom! They deserve it.....and so do the families that anxiously await their return!

My Best Friend

So, I go check the mail and there was a "Mother's Day" card from my best friend, "B".

It was the sweetest card ever! Really made my day! I thought this was a perfect time to say a few things about how much my best friend means to me!

Well, we have been BFF's for 18 years. Wow... I didn't even realize it was that long.. man, I am getting old!! lol

A best friend is someone you can turn to for anything. They always tell you that your right... even when you are totally wrong! They lift you up when you are down. They are ALWAYS there when you need them. They praise you during the best times of your life and hold your hand during the worst. They always have your back no matter what!

A best true best friend is a real treasure and I have that will "B"

I made this little video for my mom. It has pictures and movie clips that remind me of my her! You have to understand..... My mom has bi-polar and was not diagnosed till she was in her mid thirties... so when she was upset or worried she reacted in a different way...most likely yelling. Hey, mom my loves her babies.... and she was never afraid to defend and protect us!(She will totally get it when she sees it!) The first little movie clip is from "Pay it Forward". Helen Hunt's son is missing and she is on phone with the police trying to locate him. My mom and I have always joked how much that seen reminds us of her. The second movie clip is from my favorite movie of all times "Terms of Endearment". Shirley Maclaine's daughter is in the hospital dying of cancer and she is in pain... just a mother protecting her child! (Bi-polar or not wouldn't we all do this for our babies?) The song is Carly Simon's "Itsy Bitsy Spider" from the movie "Heartburn". We have always loved that song and that movie!

My mom is my bestfriend and I love her dearly! : )

Before I started "Farrah Nicole Photography", I was a stay at home mom/ babysitter. I first started watching this little girl when she was just six weeks old... I continued to be her sitter till she was three. She is now four going on fourteen!! lol

She gets more and more beautiful by the day. I think her mommy needs to get her into modeling... cause... "Hello" this child can so rock the camera!!!

When my grandpa (aka "Daddy Billy") passed away last Oct. I asked my grandmother if I could have his "Members Only" jacket. My Daddy Billy, always wore this jacket..... always!! There was no way I was going to let this little windbreaker make it to the "good will" pile....... uh.... the thought of this jacket ending up in the hands of someone who would not appreciate it just crushed me........... so........I am now the official last "Member" and I am proud of it!!!!

Happiness can mean so many things.... but I think I have had two moments of true happiness within the past two weeks.

Realizing the business you are building from scratch is becoming what you always dreamed it would be........ when a client drives up three hours to have you photograph their children.

"Happiness" is:

When you find out that a surgery WILL save your father from an extremely life threatening cancer.

I just received this email from my daughter's teacher. I am so grateful that my Kayla has such a love and dedication to her school work! She is in "FBLA", "HOSA", "Quiz Bowl", the marching band and she also volunteers at the Special Olympics every year. Man, I have great kids!!!

After many false predictions, the weatherman finally got it right! The kids are thrilled!

I just looked outside and it is still snowing! We will definately wake up to a winter wonderland!

Don't let Ky's look of "Mom, please don't photograph me" fool ya! He was totally stoked about the snow. He really enjoyed hitting Kennedy in the back of the head with a giant snowball. I wish I had taken a picture of that!! lol

Cry, Laugh, and Precious as Gold

Every Thursday my boys bring home their "Take Home" folders. I usually glance through at their work for the week and leave my "John Hancock" to send back to the teacher. This week I found something different, something that would bring me to tears.

My son was asked to bring three things to school. I knew he had to bring some stuff, but had no idea what it was or what it was for.

The items he was supposed bring were to represent something that makes you cry, laugh and is Precious as Gold. He was to write a paper and explain what each of these meant to him.

This is what he wrote:

Today is the day!! My daughter is officially sixteen!! Time must have wings because it sure has flown by way too fast!!

I am so proud of my daughter and the young woman she is becoming! I pray that she continues to follow God's plan for her life! Today her youth is behind her... and her whole life is in front of her!!

Creative MInd

I wish I could begin to explain how my mind works. My eyes are sponges.... soaking up everything I see.... my brain is an endless soundtrack.

I am constantly inpired by my surroundings.... things I can see... things I can touch....things I can hear... even things I can smell. All these senses combine to make a creative explotion in my brain!... That is the only way I can describe it. My ADD that I once hated..... is now embraced. It is my ADD that helps me to create!

So, I saw watched (the 90's version) of "Romeo and Juiet" over Christmas break. Can I just say that Bazz Lurhmann is a genius! I forgot how cool that movie was!

I was so inspired by that film... that I wanted to use some of "Romeo and Juliet" in my photography. ( I also added a dab of Marie Antionette)

to say that I am quite ready for it!!

2009 was a year filled with LOTS of tears... was stolen from, copied, brother went off to war, Grandpa had an unexpected death( still having a hard time with this one), My mom almost died from swine flu. The list goes on... but I have happy healthy children, the love and adoration of a really good (really gorgeous) man...the most supportive family/extended family ever....Amazing friends ( they rock)... an awesome church... a kick butt camera..... the coolest clients ever..oh....and a rockin business!

Wow! With all those blessings how can 2010 not be a fabulous year ,right?

I am at work preparing for my favorite holiday...... VALENTINE'S DAY!!! My birthday is 10 days before V-day...and I could care less about that. Just bring me some chocolate covered strawberries..... flowers... romantic music!!

Anyways, I had a 50's-ish V-day idea that I wanted to try out on Karson. Didn't turn out exactly how I pictured it... but I still like it.(Notice the photohopped tattoo)

I was inspired by this song by " The Flamingos". Music is a huge inspiration to me when I am editing. Each album I have ever worked on has it's own soundtrack!!

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY

AND TO SEE JUST WHO

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,

A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,

NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,

AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,

IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,

I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,

ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,

SILENT, ALONE,

CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR

IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,

THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,

NOT HOW I PICTURED

A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO

OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?

CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,

THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES

THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,

OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS

WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,

THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,

AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE

A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM

EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,

BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,

LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER

HOW MANY LAY ALONE,

SANTA DON'T CRY.

WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,

WHISPERED, 'CARRY ON SANTA,

Geez, I have to be like the worst blogger ever. It's always like a least a week before I post something new. It just that most wonderful... most busy time of year!

So much has happened in the past couple of weeks. My brother got to come for a visit from Afghanistan. It was so wonderful to have him home for Thanksgiving! As, much as I hated to see him leave, he starts heading to the states in Feb. That's not too far away at all.

Ok, gotta get back to work... tons of pics to edit and lots of emails to respond to.

Here are a few rare pics of my hubby and I. My brother is also quite handy with the camera... I took advantage of his talant while he was here on his visit. : )

So, I have seriously been a busy bee! I wish I had the time right now to post something new everyday.. but it is the holiday season...and I have been a picture taken... editng fool!! lol... but I love...love...love it!

Ok, back to the subject at hand. I have been waiting for months for Nov. 20th!! The opening day of "New Moon". Yes, I am a die hard "Twilight" fan!! Read all four books in like less than two weeks...and I don't even like to read. I know I should be embarrassed... I mean.. I am almost 33 years old! lol!!

My hubby was a real trooper!! He endured the over a hour long wait...in a crowd full of people (mostly teens) with two cold drinks in hand. He must really love me to sit through a 2 hour movie filled with a bunch of shirtless guys!! lol

The movie was AWESOME!!! I am now counting down the days to "Eclipse"

I know some people get mad at me when I say this...and Larry just laughs at me.. but I don't care. I love Edward and all.... and I am happy he ends up with Bella... but I am "Team Jacob" all the way!!!!

I keep hearing people talk about a song called "Party in the USA"... so I look it up on youtube...and low and behold it is sung by Miley Cyrus. ( I am sure I spelled her name wrong) I am not too familiar with Hannah Montana since my girls are teenagers. They are the "Lizzy McGuire" (aka Hillary Duff) generation.

Well, it is official... I am a dork.. I guess I can join in on the Miley Cyrus craze. I don't even like this teeny bobber kind of music.... but yet... I love this song... and so does my daughter... she just told me not to tell anyone. Well, guess what Kayla???? EVERYONE KNOWS NOW!!! lol

As much as I love that my boys play football... I have to say I am glad football season is over. Practices back to back... in three different locations.. three times a week was getting very old! ( been doing it since July)

The boys had a great season and they had the best coaches!!

We had a fun at the "Trunk or Treat" night at our church. I don't know what I was dressed as.... maybe "Barbie"?? lol!! The kids got lot's of candy.... they were thrilled!!

My mom has been in ICU since Monday. I have been so worried about her! She has an infection in her lungs... the doctors think it may be caused by swine flu. Still waiting on test results. She is doing a little better today. Praise God!!

She is such an awesome mom and "Mimi"!! She is probably the most giving person I know!! I love her so much and I am praying for a complete healing of her body!!

Down Syndrome Awareness

October is "Down Syndrome Awareness" month. Atlanta holds a buddy walk every Oct. to help raise money in support of those with Down Syndrome. Due to my busy work schedule I was unable to join Larry and the kiddos at the walk. So, I decided to snag a few pics of Preston and feature him in my blog.

Not sure if many of you know.... but Preston has a dual diagnosis of Downs/Autism. He keeps very active and it can be very hard to get his attention to photograph him. Larry and I were very happy with the results. I think photos really show Preston's cute and busy little personality! : )

Wow! 2 post in one day!! I am just getting ready for a shoot...missing my grandpa. This song "Ya-Weh" by Hillsong has brought me much comfort! I don't know what I would do without Jesus!!

My church's praise team ( my husband is the drummer) played this song today. It gave me some peace! I love Hillsong.. but I have to say that I thought the church Praise team brought a little something extra to this song! I loved it!

Today my Grandfather, Daddy Billy, passed away. It was just two months ago that my family had a big barb-b-que in honor of his eighty third birthday. Infact I featured his birthday in my blog.

My "Daddy Billy" made the best barb-b-que you ever put in your mouth! He would spend two days smoking a boston butt till it was so moist and tender it would practically melt in your mouth....and let's not forget his famous barb-b-que sauce. It was his secret recipe and it was perfection!

I love my memories of him baiting my hook and letting me fish for carp at the boat docks... or how he would take me trolling ( yes, I like to fish).... and how he would pull us grandkids on the inner tube at racing speeds behind his boat. Lake Lanier will always hold that fun memory! I will miss how he always asked to be the first one to have a piece of cake (or any dessert for that matter) at every family function!! Sweets were his favorite and that is something he passed down to me!

My grandfather was a huge fan of my business and because of his help and because he believed in me.... I was able to continue with my dream!

Thank you Daddy Billy for being such a loving Grandpa and Great Grandpa! I am so honored to be your grandaughter! You will forever be in my heart!

Today is our anniversary! I can't believe it has been four years already!... but it has been the best four years of my life!

Larry, thank you for always being my rock...thank you for always believing in me and encouraging me in my business! Thank for loving me even though I am a slob!! Thank you for always helping with the kids. Thank you taking such good care of me when I was bed ridden for a week. Thank you for being there to help me get through this difficult time of losing my Grandfather any day now. Thank you for times you took my Grandpa out to lunch and detailed out his car. Those are the little things you do that mean so much to me! Thank you for just being you... cause that is the man that I love so much!! Happy Anniversary my sweet love!! xoxox
