Sweet 16

|
Today is the day!! My daughter is officially sixteen!! Time must have wings because it sure has flown by way too fast!!

I am so proud of my daughter and the young woman she is becoming! I pray that she continues to follow God's plan for her life! Today her youth is behind her... and her whole life is in front of her!!

Thinking about what she wants so wish for.. hope it isn't a car!! lol

Thank God this pic was so dark you couldn't see the ulgy "Mario Bros. toadstool cake I made her!! I could have photoshopped her a kick butt cake though!! lol

I Love You Kayla!!! Happy Sweet 16!!

(Have to add a video to go with the post!!)

Creative MInd

I wish I could begin to explain how my mind works. My eyes are sponges.... soaking up everything I see.... my brain is an endless soundtrack.

I am constantly inpired by my surroundings.... things I can see... things I can touch....things I can hear... even things I can smell. All these senses combine to make a creative explotion in my brain!... That is the only way I can describe it. My ADD that I once hated..... is now embraced. It is my ADD that helps me to create!

So, I saw watched (the 90's version) of "Romeo and Juiet" over Christmas break. Can I just say that Bazz Lurhmann is a genius! I forgot how cool that movie was!

I was so inspired by that film... that I wanted to use some of "Romeo and Juliet" in my photography. ( I also added a dab of Marie Antionette)

This is what I came up with......

My daughter as "Juliet"

Here is a little musical inspiration:

Ready for a New Year!!

|

It's a cold wet New Years Eve. 2010 is just hours away...and I have
to say that I am quite ready for it!!

2009 was a year filled with LOTS of tears... was stolen from, copied, brother went off to war, Grandpa had an unexpected death( still having a hard time with this one), My mom almost died from swine flu. The list goes on... but I have happy healthy children, the love and adoration of a really good (really gorgeous) man...the most supportive family/extended family ever....Amazing friends ( they rock)... an awesome church... a kick butt camera..... the coolest clients ever..oh....and a rockin business!

Wow! With all those blessings how can 2010 not be a fabulous year ,right?

"Happy New Year" Everone!! May this be the best year EVER!!

Preparing

|
I am at work preparing for my favorite holiday...... VALENTINE'S DAY!!! My birthday is 10 days before V-day...and I could care less about that. Just bring me some chocolate covered strawberries..... flowers... romantic music!!

Anyways, I had a 50's-ish V-day idea that I wanted to try out on Karson. Didn't turn out exactly how I pictured it... but I still like it.(Notice the photohopped tattoo)

I was inspired by this song by " The Flamingos". Music is a huge inspiration to me when I am editing. Each album I have ever worked on has it's own soundtrack!!

Sharp Shooters

|
Got the boys BB guns for Christmas... obviously they LOVE them!! Maybe Uncle Trae can teach them a few things when he returns home from Afghanistan. :)

Notice I took this pic from inside... for one it is cold...and I hate the cold and two... I was watching them from my computer. ( Lindsey if you are reading this I am almost done editing your family pics) :)

I am cracking up at the target Larry made them! Hmmmmmm... I am not sure if a smiley face man for a target is a good thing or a bad thing?

P.S. This is so off topic, but in case you didn't know. I am a die hard MUSE fan!! You will see a bit of MUSE incorporated in my photography very soon! ;)

Happy Birthday Jesus!!

|
Out of all the gifts one could receive.... the best gift of all is our Saviour, Jesus Christ! Today I say "Happy Birthday Jesus"!

Merry Christmas to my brother in Afghanistan and to my Grandpa in Heaven! Christmas just isn't the same without you here!! Love you!!

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE
CHRISTMAS,

HE LIVED ALL ALONE,

IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF

PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY

WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,

AND TO SEE JUST WHO

IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,

A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,

NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,

NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,

JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,

ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES

OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,

AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,

A SOBER THOUGHT

CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,

IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,

I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,

ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,

SILENT, ALONE,

CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR

IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,

THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,

NOT HOW I PICTURED

A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO

OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?

CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,

THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES

THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,

OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS

WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,

THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,

AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE

A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM

EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,

BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,

LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER

HOW MANY LAY ALONE,

ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE

IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT

BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,

I DROPPED TO MY KNEES

AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED

AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,

SANTA DON'T CRY.

THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,

I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,

MY LIFE IS MY GOD,

MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS.

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER

AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,

I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,

I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,

SO SILENT AND STILL

AND WE BOTH SHIVERED

FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE

ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,

THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR

SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,

WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,

WHISPERED, 'CARRY ON SANTA,

IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE.

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,

AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.

MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,

AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT.'
